Las Vegas authorities released further information on Friday regarding the Cybertruck explosion outside the Trump Hotel on Wednesday, revealing that the deceased Army veteran who detonated the vehicle had no apparent political motivations.
Sheriff Kevin McMahill of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department stated that 37-year-old Matthew Livelsberger, an active-duty soldier, died by suicide before the explosion. Investigators recovered a journal and manifesto from Livelsberger’s phone, indicating struggles with PTSD and no animosity towards former President Trump, despite the target location.

Interestingly, voting records show Livelsberger was registered with the “No Labels” party, a centrist political group advocating for bipartisan cooperation. The El Paso County clerk’s office in Colorado confirmed his registration, which was canceled at one point but reactivated in July 2024. Livelsberger also voted in the most recent election.

Officials are still investigating Livelsberger’s background, including his affiliation with the No Labels party, but maintain there's no evidence of animosity towards Trump. Livelsberger, a Master Sergeant stationed in Germany with the 10th Special Forces Group, was on leave at the time of the incident. He had a long history of service, starting active duty in 2006 and also serving in the National Guard and Army Reserve.

Sheriff McMahill described the incident as a tragic suicide of a decorated combat veteran grappling with PTSD.
