Former Arizona House Minority Leader Andrés Cano officially resigned from his legislative position on Tuesday to embark on a new academic journey at Harvard University. Cano, 31, announced his intention to leave the state House of Representatives in May after securing admission to Harvard's prestigious master's program in public administration. His year-long program commences on July 11th.

Cano, a Democrat representing Tucson's District 20, was first elected to the State House in 2018 and subsequently re-elected in both 2020 and 2022. His resignation letter expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve his constituents and lead the House minority, stating, "It has been the honor of my lifetime to represent the people of District 20 and to serve as the House Minority Leader. I’m looking forward to the next chapter in my public service after successfully completing my graduate studies."
