A recent high school graduate from Ohio tragically lost her life during a senior trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Natalie Martin, 18, was allegedly strangled by her ex-boyfriend, Blake Linkous, according to police reports. The incident occurred on June 6th at a vacation rental apartment where Martin was staying with friends, including Linkous.
The incident report states that Linkous "did with malice aforethought cause the death of Natalie Martin by manually strangling the victim." The motive behind the attack remains unclear.

Linkous was taken into custody on June 8th and is currently held without bond at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center, facing a murder charge. A GoFundMe campaign has been initiated by Martin's friend, Brooklyn Ferrell, to assist with funeral costs. Ferrell revealed to local news outlet, the Sun News, that Martin and Linkous had been in a long-term relationship that recently ended.

Both Martin and Linkous graduated from Philo High School in Duncan Falls, Ohio, on May 26th. Images on Martin's mother's Facebook page show her receiving her diploma in a yellow cap and gown. Philo High School principal, Troy Dawson, expressed the profound impact of the tragedy on the school community. He described Martin as a beloved student, known for her kind nature, humor, and involvement in school activities like softball and soccer. Dawson stated he was unaware of any prior conflicts between the two graduates.

A local obituary celebrated Martin's vibrant spirit and infectious laughter, highlighting her love for outdoor activities like hunting, fishing, and even "wrangling snakes." The obituary also touched on her nurturing side, evident in her passion for gardening, caring for children, and her bond with her three dogs. Funeral services are scheduled at Cornerstone Church, followed by a candlelight vigil at Philo High School. Martin is survived by her parents, Megan Dingey and Jesse Martin, and two brothers.
