Two North Carolina lawyers have admitted their guilt in a Wisconsin federal court for orchestrating a fraudulent political action committee. Jack Daly, 51, pleaded guilty on Friday to conspiracy to commit mail fraud and making false statements to the Federal Election Commission. Nathanael Pendley, 61, entered the same guilty pleas on Monday.
Court documents reveal that the duo established the PAC in 2017, ostensibly to encourage former Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke to launch a U.S. Senate campaign. The PAC amassed over $1.6 million in donations, but the majority of these funds were allegedly diverted for Daly and Pendley's personal use, rather than for the stated purpose of promoting Clarke's candidacy.

Despite Clarke's public announcement that he would not be pursuing a Senate seat and his denouncement of the PAC as a fraudulent scheme, the attorneys continued to solicit contributions. Furthermore, they filed misleading information with the Federal Election Commission, falsely identifying an intern as the PAC treasurer, despite knowing the intern held no such responsibilities.
Sentencing for both attorneys is scheduled for September.
