Projected top NBA draft pick Brandon Miller has received a surprising endorsement from the Metro Nashville Police Department, his hometown police force, despite his connection to a January shooting incident. Miller's former teammate faces capital murder charges in the death of a 23-year-old woman.
The MNPD tweeted their support for Miller, citing a long-standing relationship with his parents through the Police Athletic League. This public backing has drawn considerable attention and criticism on social media, given the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
While Miller was not charged in the incident, his involvement has been a source of ongoing debate. He reportedly transported the weapon used in the shooting, though he maintained he never handed it to the alleged shooter, Darius Miles. Miles and another individual, Michael Davis, have been charged with the murder of Jamea Harris.
Miller has expressed his condolences to the victim's family and stated that the situation is heartbreaking. Two other players, Jaden Bradley and Cooper Lee, were also present at the scene, with Lee admitting to being in Miller's car at the time.
