A lawyer representing the woman accusing UFC fighter Conor McGregor of sexual assault at a Miami NBA Finals game has refuted claims that her client's story changed after a video surfaced showing McGregor leading the woman to a restroom. The video, released by TMZ Sports, depicts McGregor guiding the unidentified woman by the hand towards a restroom area with several people present near the door before it closes.
In letters to the NBA, the Miami Heat, and McGregor's representatives, attorney Ariel Mitchell detailed the allegations, claiming NBA and Heat security separated the woman from her friend and directed her into a bathroom where McGregor and his security were waiting. Mitchell stated that her client and McGregor had been together at a club inside the arena before the alleged incident. McGregor left for the restroom, and the woman was subsequently approached by someone in a Denver Nuggets jersey who said McGregor had sent him to escort her.
The woman believed they were leaving the arena as planned and didn't remember who led her to the restroom until seeing the video, Mitchell explained. McGregor’s attorney, Barbara R. Llanes, asserted that the "claimant’s lawyer now has changed her story" after the video's release, calling the accusations a "shakedown" attempt after a demand for money went unanswered.
Mitchell firmly denied these claims, emphasizing that the video clearly shows McGregor leading the woman into the bathroom and questioning why a soon-to-be-married man with a child on the way would do so with someone other than his fiancée. She stated they are cooperating with the police and seeking justice.
Both the NBA and the Miami Heat have released statements acknowledging the allegations and confirming ongoing investigations. The Miami Police Department is also investigating a report filed on Sunday. These accusations follow the recent announcement of McGregor and his fiancée, Dee Devlin, expecting their fourth child.
