Venture capitalist Chris Sacca pointed fingers at environmentalists for the recent devastating fires in Los Angeles County during a podcast appearance. He argued that groups like the Sierra Club obstruct crucial fire prevention measures, such as creating defensible space and controlled burns, leaving communities vulnerable. Sacca, who has appeared on "Shark Tank," described a recurring cycle of failure contributing to the wildfires, which ignited on January 7th and have tragically claimed over 20 lives.

He criticized the current rebuilding process, which prioritizes replicating destroyed structures rather than incorporating fire-resistant materials and designs. Sacca suggested using concrete, aluminum, and heat-reflective materials, along with fire-resistant landscaping. He expressed frustration with the expedited permitting process, which only applies to rebuilding identical structures, hindering efforts to implement safer building practices.

Despite his background as an advisor and supporter of Democratic politicians, Sacca expressed disagreement with environmentalists on this issue. He referred to California Governor Gavin Newsom's executive order suspending environmental reviews to accelerate rebuilding efforts. This order aims to streamline the permitting process for wildfire victims.
