Reports of mysterious unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), commonly known as drones, continue to surface across New Jersey, leaving residents and officials perplexed. Initially sighted over Morris County in mid-November, these drone appearances have become a regular occurrence, with a recent surge in sightings noted in Middlesex County and other parts of the state.
Government officials are actively addressing these unexplained events. New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy has assured the public that, based on current information, there is no identifiable threat. He recently participated in a briefing with Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, along with representatives from the Department of Homeland Security, the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness, and the New Jersey State Police, to discuss the ongoing drone activity.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has joined the investigation, urging the public to report any drone sightings. In a statement released on December 3rd, the FBI's Newark office, in conjunction with the New Jersey State Police and the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness, requested public assistance in gathering information related to these drone flights, which have been observed over several weeks, particularly along the Raritan River. Witnesses have described seeing formations of what appear to be drones, along with a potential fixed-wing aircraft.

The drones have been observed on a nightly basis in certain locations, sometimes flying in groups. Adding to the mystery, similar drone activity has been reported on Staten Island, New York.

Both the FBI and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) have been contacted for further details on the ongoing investigation.
