Former President Donald Trump recently hosted a dinner for a select group of Republican governors at his Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida. This strategic meeting occurred shortly before his upcoming inauguration on January 20th.
The dinner provided an opportunity for Trump to connect with key GOP figures who are expected to play a crucial role in implementing his agenda during his second term. This includes his focus on deporting immigrants with criminal records.

Among the attendees were Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp, Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin, and Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds.

The relationship between DeSantis and Trump, marked by both alliance and friction during the 2024 GOP primaries, has seemingly improved since then, with DeSantis endorsing and fundraising for Trump's general election campaign.
Governor Reynolds, despite previously endorsing DeSantis during the primaries, expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with the incoming Trump administration.

Youngkin, who briefly considered a presidential bid himself, joined forces with Trump during the general election. Kemp, despite past disagreements with Trump regarding the 2020 election results, has also recently shown support for the former president.
This pre-inauguration dinner highlights Trump's efforts to consolidate support within the Republican party and coordinate with key state leaders as he prepares to return to office.
