President-elect Donald Trump has unveiled his choices for ambassadors to Portugal and Malta, nominating John Arrigo and Somers Farkas respectively. Pending confirmation, Arrigo, the vice president of the Arrigo Auto Group in West Palm Beach, Florida, will assume the role of ambassador to Portugal. Trump praised Arrigo on Truth Social, highlighting his business acumen, golfing prowess, and long-standing leadership in West Palm Beach. He expressed confidence in Arrigo's ability to serve the country effectively, emphasizing his "America First" approach. Reports indicate a long-term association between Arrigo and Trump.

Meanwhile, Farkas, a philanthropist and model, is poised to represent American interests in Malta. She has previously served on Trump's Commission on White House Fellowships. Trump commended Farkas for her extensive fundraising efforts for various charitable organizations, including the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, the Alzheimer’s Association, Lighthouse Guild, and the New York Women's Foundation. He also acknowledged her role as a trustee of the New York City Police Foundation, emphasizing her support for law enforcement.
