Small Plane Crash Near North Myrtle Beach Claims One Life, Injures Others

Tragedy struck near North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on Sunday morning when a small aircraft crashed, resulting in at least one fatality and several injuries. The incident occurred northwest of Grand Strand Airport around 11 a.m. local time.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the single-engine Piper PA-32 was carrying four individuals when it went down near Pete Dye Drive, close to the Barefoot Landing Resort and Golf Course. A woman was transported to a local hospital, while at least one person was confirmed dead at the scene, as reported by North Myrtle Beach Police Officer Pat Wilkinson.

Emergency responders arrived to find the aircraft engulfed in flames. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have initiated investigations to determine the cause of the crash. The Horry County Coroner's Office will release further details about the victims once their identities have been confirmed.

This unfortunate event follows another small plane crash into Lake Michigan near Beaver Island the previous week, which resulted in one fatality and one injury.
