Comedian Jack Whitehall recently revealed on the "Jase & Lauren" podcast that Prince Harry distanced himself from several close friends after he began dating Meghan Markle. Whitehall, who described his past relationship with the Duke of Sussex as being "quite good friends" before Markle entered the picture, confirmed that Harry essentially "dropped his mates" when his relationship with the actress became serious.
Whitehall recounted having "a few nights out" with the prince, describing those times as "quite fun." However, he clarified he wasn't part of Harry's "inner circle" and wasn't present during the infamous Las Vegas incident. The comedian also noted that, like Harry, he's moved on from his wilder bachelor days since becoming a father.
This isn't the first time such claims have surfaced. Reports have circulated for years about Harry losing touch with friends after his relationship with Markle began. In 2023, King Charles' former butler, Grant Harrold, suggested that Harry had severed ties with friends he and Prince William once shared, including missing the wedding of longtime friend Jack Mann. Harrold also lamented the growing distance between the two brothers, who were once inseparable.
Royal expert Hilary Fordwich pointed to a 2016 shooting party at Sandringham, where Harry introduced Markle to his Eton College friends, as a potential turning point. Fordwich claims that these friends, many from influential families, have since distanced themselves from Harry. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved to the U.S. in 2020, further solidifying the separation.
