A gathering of prominent figures, including every living former president, attended former President Jimmy Carter's state funeral at the Washington National Cathedral. However, several key individuals were notably absent.
Former Vice President Dick Cheney, the sole living former vice president not present, was unable to attend due to health concerns. Former First Lady Michelle Obama was also absent, citing a scheduling conflict in Hawaii. Her spokesperson conveyed her condolences to the Carter family.
