Navy Speedboat Collision with Ferry Near Mumbai Claims 13 Lives

A tragic accident unfolded near Mumbai, India on Wednesday when an Indian navy speedboat collided with a passenger ferry en route to Elephanta Island, resulting in the loss of 13 lives. The ferry, "Neelkamal," was carrying over 100 passengers to the popular tourist destination when the incident occurred. According to a navy statement, the speedboat was undergoing engine trials when it lost control and struck the ferry.

Rescue operations were swiftly launched, involving four helicopters and 11 naval vessels, along with civilian boats. A total of 99 ferry passengers were rescued and transported to nearby docks and hospitals. The casualties included one navy personnel and two other individuals aboard the navy craft.
