Greene Condemns Hunter Biden's Plea Deal, Citing IRS Whistleblower Testimony

Created: JANUARY 25, 2025

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene has sharply criticized the plea agreement reached with Hunter Biden, labeling it "pathetic" and expressing outrage over what she perceives as lenient treatment. Americans, she argues, are "furious" about the deal, which allows the president's son to avoid jail time after pleading guilty to a felony gun charge and two tax violations. Greene's comments come in the wake of explosive allegations revealed by the House Ways and Means Committee, including claims that Hunter Biden failed to report $2.2 million in income to the IRS and improperly deducted expenses related to prostitution as business costs.

Speaking on "MediaBuzz," Greene drew a stark comparison between Hunter Biden's situation and that of ordinary citizens, asserting that anyone else facing similar charges would likely face imprisonment. She highlighted the testimony of IRS whistleblowers, which alleges interference from the Department of Justice, FBI, and IRS in the tax evasion investigation against Hunter Biden. The whistleblowers claim that Hunter Biden listed payments to prostitutes and sex club memberships as business expenses on his tax returns. Greene emphasized the gravity of these accusations, particularly the alleged write-off of expenses connected to human trafficking. She questioned the thoroughness of the investigation and the leniency of the resulting charges, suggesting that the attorney involved failed to adequately pursue the case. The congresswoman underscored the public's discontent with the outcome, characterizing the reaction as fury rather than mere disapproval.

The IRS whistleblower testimony, released by the House Ways and Means Committee, details how Hunter Biden allegedly categorized payments for prostitutes and sex club memberships as business expenses through his company, Owasco P.C. One whistleblower, Gary Shapley, Jr., a Supervisory Special Agent who oversaw the IRS probe, testified that Hunter Biden even booked flights for prostitutes and expensed them. Some of these flights were reportedly first class. Shapley also testified that Hunter Biden's 2018 tax return, filed late in 2020, included personal expenses disguised as business expenses, including a $25,000 payment to a girlfriend labeled as a "golf membership," which was later revealed to be a sex club membership in Los Angeles. The investigation into Hunter Biden's taxes, codenamed "Sportsman," originated in 2018 as part of a broader investigation into a foreign-based online pornography platform.
