Country music icon Dolly Parton, despite her roots, continues to push boundaries. Her upcoming rock album, "Rockstar," slated for a November release, has been generating buzz, and recent revelations offer a glimpse into its creation. While Parton aimed for a collaboration with Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger on their iconic hit "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction," scheduling conflicts and Jagger's desire for fresh material led to the duet not materializing. Parton shared with the Daily Mail that although Jagger was keen on the collaboration, they couldn't align their schedules. He was working on an album in Los Angeles, while Parton's commitments kept her in Nashville.
Despite this setback, "Rockstar" boasts an impressive roster of collaborations. The album's opening track features Richie Sambora, former Bon Jovi guitarist. Sting lends his voice to a rendition of The Police's "Every Breath You Take," and Journey's Steve Perry joins Parton for "Open Arms." John Fogerty, Creedence Clearwater Revival's frontman, partners with Parton on "Long as I Can See the Light." Pink and Brandi Carlile step in for "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction," adding their unique flair to the Rolling Stones classic.
The star power continues with Parton's goddaughter, Miley Cyrus, joining her for "Wrecking Ball," and Debbie Harry contributing to "Heart of Glass." Elton John, Melissa Etheridge, Pat Benatar, and Stevie Nicks also make appearances. Notably, Parton secured a collaboration with the two surviving Beatles, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, for a rendition of "Let It Be."
"Rockstar" promises a unique blend of classic rock anthems reimagined through Parton's distinctive style, combined with the power of numerous high-profile collaborations. The album is set to drop on November 17th.
