Celebrated actor Denzel Washington, 69, has embarked on a new chapter in his life, receiving his minister's license. The ceremony took place at Kelly Temple in New York City on Saturday, officiated by Bishop James Pullings Jr.
A video circulating online captures Washington's moving words during the baptism: "It took some time, but I've arrived...If [God] can do this for me, He can do anything for you. The possibilities are endless."

Esther Renee Burns Pullings, the bishop's wife, documented the event on Facebook, sharing photos and expressing her joy. "What a wonderful service at The Historic Kelly Temple Church of God in Christ today," she wrote. "We were privileged to witness our Bishop James Pullings Jr. baptizing Denzel Washington, now Minister Washington. All glory to God!"

Washington's newfound spiritual path aligns with his recent reflections on faith in an Esquire interview. He candidly stated, "When you encounter me, you see the best version of myself, thanks to my Lord and Savior. I have no fear."

He further elaborated on the challenges of discussing religion within the entertainment industry. "Speaking about faith in this way—it won't win you Oscars. It's not conducive to partying. It's simply not accepted in this town," he explained.
He continued, "I've found freedom. Faith isn't a common topic of conversation here. It's not trendy or glamorous. But that doesn't imply a lack of belief in Hollywood. The term 'Hollywood' is abstract anyway. To me, it's just a street—Hollywood Boulevard."

While acknowledging his own faith, Washington admitted uncertainty about the beliefs of his fellow actors. "We don't congregate to discuss our spiritual convictions. I haven't conducted a survey. There are no 'Church Actor Meetings' that I'm aware of," he quipped.
Washington's acting career, spanning decades, began with his breakout role in the 1982 medical drama "St. Elsewhere." His subsequent success in film includes acclaimed performances in movies like "Fences," "Training Day," "The Book of Eli," "Cry Freedom," and "Malcolm X."
