Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin joined the New York Yankees for their HOPE Week (Helping Others Persevere and Excel) initiative, leading a CPR training session at Yankee Stadium. Hamlin, who suffered cardiac arrest during a game in January, has made raising awareness about CPR a personal mission.

Along with the American Heart Association, NYC Public School Athletic Leagues, and Sarah Taffet (a former Fordham softball player who also required CPR after an on-field incident), Hamlin guided Yankees players through the life-saving technique. The event highlighted the importance of CPR education and demonstrated how even professional athletes can benefit from these skills. Hamlin emphasized the influence of the Yankees, noting their participation would inspire others to learn CPR.

Hamlin's efforts to promote CPR awareness extend beyond this event. He recently threw the first pitch at a Pittsburgh Pirates game and will do the same for the Yankees. He will also be honored at the ESPY Awards and appeared on "The Masked Singer." While Hamlin continues his football career, having practiced with the Bills at OTAs, he's dedicated to transforming a traumatic experience into a life-saving message. He expressed his commitment to making a positive impact, aligning with his lifelong goal of changing the world.
Yankees players like Anthony Rizzo and Anthony Volpe acknowledged the value of the training, emphasizing the potential for anyone to save a life with CPR knowledge.

The Yankees also made a $10,000 donation to the American Heart Association in support of their mission. Hamlin's Bills will begin their season against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium on September 11th, a Monday night game.
