Former UFC champion Conor McGregor has strongly criticized pro-Hamas and pro-Hezbollah demonstrators for waving the groups' flags at a rally in Ireland. McGregor's statement on social media platform X followed a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas that included the release of four female hostages.
McGregor expressed outrage, stating, "To raise the flag of a terrorist organization on Irish soil must become a major crime in the eyes of our state. It will not be tolerated nor lauded!" He emphasized the distinction between displaying national flags and those of "radicalized terror organizations," calling the latter a "big problem."

This incident unfolded against the backdrop of a hostage release facilitated by a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. McGregor's rival, Khabib Nurmagomedov, offered a contrasting perspective, praising Ireland's pro-Palestinian stance following his cousin's victory over an Irish fighter in a Bellator championship match. Nurmagomedov acknowledged the competitive nature of their rivalry with McGregor, but highlighted Ireland's support for Palestine as a point of connection.

The subsequent agreement between Israel and Hamas involved the release of hostages and the return of Palestinians to the Gaza Strip.
