Washington Commanders running back Austin Ekeler recently opened up about the memory loss he suffered following his second concussion in just two months. The injury occurred in the closing seconds of Washington's 34-26 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on November 24th.
In a candid interview with 106.7 The Fan, Ekeler revealed, "I didn't even recall how I left the field. I experienced short-term memory loss. I remember my wife being present while the medical team evaluated me. That's when my memory started to return."
Ekeler, now in his first season with Washington after nine years with the Los Angeles Chargers, stated he immediately recognized the concussion symptoms. He compared this incident to the concussion he sustained in Week 3 against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Following the injury, Ekeler was placed on injured reserve. However, due to the team's bye week, he is potentially on track to return for their game against the New Orleans Saints on December 15th. He expressed optimism about his recovery, stating he's "trending in the right direction" and not "far off" from clearing concussion protocol.
So far this season, Ekeler has recorded 355 rushing yards and four touchdowns.
