Following a triumphant NCAA championship win, UConn men's basketball coach Dan Hurley has secured a lucrative new contract. The six-year agreement, valued at $31.5 million, will keep Hurley at the helm of the Huskies program through 2029.

Hurley's average annual compensation will be $5.25 million, with additional performance-based incentives potentially boosting his earnings even further. This new deal significantly upgrades his previous contract from 2018, which paid him approximately $3 million per season.

UConn Athletic Director David Benedict expressed immense satisfaction with Hurley's performance, highlighting the remarkable program rebuild over the past five years. Benedict emphasized the coach's instrumental role in leading the Huskies back to the pinnacle of college basketball and celebrated the long-term commitment secured with the new contract.

Since taking over the program in March 2018 after three consecutive losing seasons and the dismissal of former coach Kevin Ollie, Hurley has compiled a 104-55 record at UConn. This past season, he guided the Huskies to a dominant 31-8 record, culminating in their fifth national title. Notably, every NCAA tournament victory was achieved by a double-digit margin. Hurley's overall coaching career, including stints at Wagner and Rhode Island, boasts a 255-160 record.

Hurley expressed gratitude for his players and staff, acknowledging their collective effort in achieving this remarkable milestone. He affirmed his commitment to building upon the program's recent success and solidifying UConn's position as a leading force in college basketball.

The coach was present at the NBA draft to support UConn prospects Jordan Hawkins, Adama Sanogo, and Andre Jackson Jr. The university confirmed that the increased salary expenses associated with Hurley's new contract will be funded through donations to the Husky Athletic Fund and the anticipated rise in ticket sales revenue.
