Around 100 letters containing a mysterious white powder have been mailed to public officials and lawmakers throughout Kansas, prompting a state-wide investigation. As of Sunday, the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) had tallied approximately 100 such letters, up from the initial count of 30 reported on Friday afternoon. While no injuries have been reported, the incident has caused significant concern.

Preliminary tests conducted on the substance have yielded negative results for common dangerous toxins, according to a KBI Facebook post on Sunday. The letters, which appear to originate from either Kansas City or Topeka, were sent to legislators' homes. Tom Day, director of Legislative Administrative Services, informed legislators about the situation via email, which was obtained by The Topeka Capital-Journal. The letters have been handed over to the KBI and the FBI for further investigation.
