Multiple sources indicate he's set to join Deion Sanders' coaching staff at the University of Colorado. Shurmur, who served as the Denver Broncos' offensive coordinator for two years before taking a break from coaching in 2022, brings over two decades of NFL experience to the Buffaloes.

During his time with the Giants (2018-2019), Shurmur's record was 9-23. He then moved to the Broncos where the team averaged 20.2 points per game under his offensive leadership. A highlight of his NFL career includes being named the AP NFL Assistant Coach of the Year in 2017 while serving as the Minnesota Vikings' offensive coordinator, a season that saw the Vikings reach the NFC Championship game.

Shurmur's experience isn't limited to the professional level. He has a history with college football, having worked as an assistant coach at Michigan State and Stanford. He was spotted on the Colorado campus earlier this week, fueling the speculation about his joining Sanders' staff.

Sanders, who arrived at Colorado after a successful stint at Jackson State (27-5 record in three seasons), is undertaking a significant rebuilding project with the Buffaloes. Following the spring game, 18 players entered the transfer portal, highlighting the scale of the roster overhaul.
