Mistress Sentenced in Dentist's Safari Murder Cover-Up

Created: JANUARY 18, 2025

Lori Milliron, the former mistress of Pennsylvania dentist Lawrence Rudolph, has been handed a 17-year prison sentence for her involvement in concealing Rudolph's murder of his wife, Bianca, during a 2016 Zambian safari. Milliron, 65, was found guilty on charges of perjury, accessory after the fact, and obstruction of justice.

During the sentencing, Bianca and Lawrence's daughter, Ana Rudolph, addressed Milliron directly, expressing her grief and anger. Milliron's attorney, John Dill, plans to appeal both the sentencing and the underlying verdict, arguing the sentence is excessive and influenced by animosity towards Rudolph.

Rudolph initially claimed his wife accidentally shot herself while packing a rifle, but prosecutors argued the bullet wound indicated a shot fired from a distance of 2.5 to 3 feet. Rudolph was convicted of murder in July 2022.

Dill maintains Milliron's innocence in the murder itself and denies any involvement in its planning. He believes the implication of her direct involvement influenced the jury and the judge. Milliron was also ordered to pay a $250,000 fine, a sum prosecutors justified based on the luxurious lifestyle she enjoyed during her affair with Rudolph. Her defense team argued that she had raised three children without child support and met Rudolph in the early 2000s. The affair, they stated, was intermittent over two decades and kept secret from Rudolph's children.

Prosecutors highlighted Milliron's financial gains before and after Bianca's death, including cash gifts and a lavish lifestyle involving international travel and luxury accommodations. During the trial, she reportedly used a company credit card for stays at upscale hotels like the Denver Ritz-Carlton and dined at expensive restaurants.

Judge William J. Martínez deemed the 17-year sentence fitting, citing evidence suggesting Milliron encouraged the crime. He also noted her apparent lack of remorse during the trial. Ana and her brother, Julian, supported their father throughout his trial. Rudolph’s sentencing has been delayed. After Bianca's death, Rudolph collected nearly $4.8 million in life insurance payouts and purchased a house in Arizona with Milliron. Prosecutors argued Rudolph, a wealthy dental franchise owner in Pittsburgh, was motivated by financial concerns, unwilling to divide his $15 million net worth in a divorce.
