Spacey's legal troubles began in 2017 with actor Anthony Rapp's accusation of sexual assault when Rapp was 14 and Spacey was 26. This led to significant backlash, including the cancellation of the popular Netflix series "House of Cards," in which Spacey starred. Although a New York jury found Spacey not liable in a civil lawsuit filed by Rapp in 2022, his career suffered greatly. Subsequent sexual assault charges, including cases in Los Angeles and Nantucket, were ultimately dropped due to the death of one victim and the other's decision not to testify.

Spacey currently faces four additional sexual assault charges in London for incidents alleged to have occurred between 2005 and 2013. His trial is scheduled to begin on June 28. In his interview with German publication ZEITMagazin, Spacey acknowledged the difficulty people might have supporting him given the allegations. However, he maintains that he has support from the public and is optimistic about his career prospects. He asserts that there are individuals ready to hire him as soon as he's cleared of the London charges.
