A recent press dinner for Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. took an unexpected turn, marked by a heated argument about climate change and a rather embarrassing bodily function. The incident, as reported by the New York Post's Page Six, occurred during a gathering hosted by former Post gossip columnist Doug Dechert.
The catalyst for the disruption was a question directed at Kennedy concerning environmental issues. This prompted Dechert, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, to vocally denounce climate change as a "hoax." His outburst roused art critic Anthony Haden-Guest, who had been dozing for a significant portion of the evening. Haden-Guest verbally rebuked Dechert, leading to a volley of insults exchanged between the two.

The verbal sparring escalated, culminating in Dechert reportedly releasing a loud and prolonged fart while exclaiming, "I'm farting!" The other attendees, which included journalists and Kennedy's campaign manager, former Rep. Dennis Kucinich, were reportedly taken aback by the incident. Kennedy himself remained silent throughout the ordeal.
Although the situation momentarily calmed, it reignited when the topic of climate change resurfaced, prompting another round of heated exchanges between Dechert and Haden-Guest.

The following day, Dechert reportedly offered an apology for his choice of expressing his views, but stood firm in his denial of climate change. Haden-Guest, reflecting on the incident, acknowledged prior disagreements with Dechert but emphasized the seriousness of climate change as a matter of human existence rather than a political issue.

This bizarre episode underscores the passionate and sometimes unconventional ways in which climate change debates can unfold, even in unexpected settings.
