Ike Turner Jr., Tina Turner's Son, Arrested on Drug Charges

Ike Turner Jr., son of the late music icon Tina Turner, was arrested in Texas in May on charges of drug possession and tampering with evidence. Turner Jr., whose biological mother is Lorraine Taylor, was apprehended by Alvin Police Department officers following a traffic stop for an equipment violation around 12:09 a.m. on Saturday, May 6. The subsequent investigation resulted in the discovery of crack cocaine and methamphetamine, leading to his arrest.

According to the police report, authorities confiscated approximately 1.7 grams of crack cocaine and a smaller amount of methamphetamine. Turner Jr. was charged with possession of a controlled substance (crack cocaine) and tampering with evidence. He is currently being held on a $70,000 bond and has yet to be released.

A passenger in the vehicle, Jessica Salinas-Esquivel, was also arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine. The police report also indicated that Turner Jr. had an outstanding warrant unrelated to this incident. This arrest comes shortly before the passing of his mother, Tina Turner, who died at her home in Switzerland on May 24 at the age of 83.

Turner Jr. followed in his parents’ footsteps and pursued a career in music. Tina Turner adopted him and his brother Michael, who were Ike Turner Sr.’s children from a previous relationship. Tina and Ike Sr. also had a son together, Ronnie, who passed away in December 2022. Tina Turner, a legendary figure in the music industry, had a career spanning six decades, selling over 150 million records and earning numerous awards, including eight Grammys and two inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
