Armando Diaz, Jr. mugshot

The perpetrator, identified as Armando Diaz, Jr., fled the scene after the shooting but was later apprehended after turning himself in four days later. Diaz's mother admitted to knowing about the murder and assisting her son's escape without contacting authorities.

During the investigation, Diaz initially attempted to deceive detectives but eventually confessed to the crime. He admitted to using a modified .45 caliber Glock handgun, fitted with a switch that enabled fully automatic fire. He attempted to justify his actions by claiming intoxication and an argument with the victim.

Chilling testimony from the Collin County Medical Examiner revealed that at least four of the gunshot wounds indicated the victim was in a fetal position on the ground when shot. Following his guilty plea, the jury delivered a life sentence. Diaz will be eligible for parole after 30 years.

Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis expressed his satisfaction with the verdict, stating, "This man brutally shot his defenseless, teenaged girlfriend 10 times... And the jury rightly saw through his lack of remorse."
