This event prompted the postponement of the Sugar Bowl, which was slated to be held at the Superdome later that day. The Superdome is also the venue for Super Bowl LIX, scheduled for February 9th.

The NFL released a statement expressing sympathy for the victims and their families while emphasizing their commitment to safety for the upcoming Super Bowl. The league highlighted its two-year collaboration with local, state, and federal agencies to develop comprehensive security measures.

The incident sparked discussions about pedestrian and tourist safety, particularly concerning the use of bollards. New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell stated that a bollard replacement program was already underway and expected to be finished well in advance of the Super Bowl.
