Lake County State’s Attorney Eric Rinehart emphasized the severity of the charges, stating, "We filed the highest charges possible because this offender needs to be isolated from the community for as long as possible in light of this violent attack." The reason for the initial ATF investigation remains unclear at this time. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the matter.
