Honduran National Accused of Sexually Assaulting Teen in Florida Park

In a disturbing incident, authorities in Palm Beach County, Florida, have apprehended Santo Martinez Varela, a Honduran national, on charges of kidnapping and sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl. The alleged attack occurred near Okeeheelee Park on January 2nd. Initial descriptions portrayed the suspect as a Hispanic male between 30 and 40 years of age, unable to communicate in English.

Following an investigation, law enforcement officials identified and arrested Varela on January 11th. DNA evidence confirmed his involvement in the crime. The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office revealed that Varela entered the United States illegally from Honduras in 2023, bypassing border control and making his way to West Palm Beach.
