The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) condemned the move as "blasphemy," urging Catholics to pray in reparation.

The Dodgers initially rescinded the group's invitation to receive a "Community Hero Award" at their Pride Night event but later reversed course, issuing an apology and re-extending the invitation. This back-and-forth has drawn strong reactions, with many Catholics expressing offense at what they perceive as mockery of their faith.

The USCCB released a statement expressing disappointment and calling the Dodgers' decision "shocking." They emphasized the group's "lewdness and vulgarity" and encouraged prayer on June 16th, the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

While the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence describe themselves as a charitable organization supporting LGBTQ+ causes and using humor to challenge bigotry, their performances, which often involve nuns' habits and religious symbols, have been a source of controversy.

The group's website states their belief in the right to self-expression and their use of humor to combat prejudice. Following the Dodgers' apology and a meeting with team officials and lawmakers, the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence accepted the reinstated invitation.
