Created: JANUARY 27, 2025

During a recent NATO summit in Vilnius, Lithuania, President Biden displayed his apparent frustration with the press through sarcastic remarks as reporters were escorted from a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

President Biden signaled to aides that it was time for the press to depart, prompting laughter from those present. As reporters continued to call out questions to both leaders, Biden responded with a sarcastic remark regarding the nature of their inquiries.

The meeting centered on Ukraine's potential NATO membership, with Biden assuring Zelenskyy of eventual inclusion. He expressed hope that the question of Ukraine's welcome in NATO had been definitively settled.

As aides ushered the press out, some reporters persisted in questioning Zelenskyy about his satisfaction with the summit's outcomes. Zelenskyy expressed his belief that the summit demonstrated significant unity and security guarantees.

When another reporter pressed Zelenskyy on the timeline for joining NATO, Biden interjected with a sarcastic "An hour and 20 minutes," followed by a further jab, "You guys ask really insightful questions!" Zelenskyy appeared to find the exchange humorous.

This incident is the latest in a series of interactions where Biden has appeared to condescend to reporters. Previous instances include his remark to CNN's Kaitlin Collins that she was in the "wrong business" and his infamous "stupid son of a b----" comment directed at Fox News reporter Peter Doocy.
