An 83-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the 1981 murder of an elderly woman in Dallas, Texas, thanks to a DNA match discovered over four decades later. Willie Jones was initially taken into custody on January 16, 2025, for a parole violation stemming from a previous sexual assault. During his processing, authorities collected a DNA sample, which subsequently linked him to the unsolved murder of Virginia White.

At the time of the murder, Jones was 40 years old, while White was 81. Dallas Police confirmed the DNA evidence connected Jones to the cold case and stated that he is not currently a suspect in any other unsolved homicides. Prior to this arrest, Jones was also wanted on several unrelated warrants in Dallas County.
