An Alabama boy's entrepreneurial spirit hit a roadblock when his lemonade stand, intended to fund a trip to Disney World, attracted the attention of the Alabama Labor Department. Eight-year-old Cam and his mother, Cristal Johnson, were surprised to receive a call regarding a complaint about their venture, alleging a violation of child labor laws.
Cristal expressed her shock and disappointment during an interview on "Fox & Friends First," emphasizing her intention to teach her son valuable life lessons, not exploit him. She had even invited other children to participate in a one-day "apprenticeship" at the stand, focusing on skills like money handling and customer service.
The flyer advertising this opportunity, which sought young "smilers" and "greeters," ultimately led to the complaint. Cam, understandably disheartened by the news, expressed his sadness over the situation.
Despite the setback, Cristal remains positive. While unsure of the complainant's identity, she believes they may now regret their actions. The incident, she noted, has ironically boosted their efforts, generating more attention and support for Cam's Disney World dream. She expressed gratitude for the unintended positive consequences and harbors no ill will towards the individual who filed the complaint.
