Washington, D.C. is gearing up for President-elect Donald Trump's second inauguration on Monday, an event that will see a mix of familiar faces and notable absences among former presidents, political figures, tech industry leaders, and international representatives.
Breaking with recent tradition, outgoing President Biden has confirmed his attendance, alongside First Lady Jill Biden. This marks a departure from Trump's own decision to skip Biden's inauguration four years prior. Former Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama, along with former First Ladies Laura Bush and Hillary Clinton, will also be present, signifying a continued observance of this historical tradition.
However, some prominent figures have opted out. Former First Lady Michelle Obama and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will not be attending. Mrs. Obama's absence echoes her non-attendance at former President Jimmy Carter's funeral earlier this month.

The tech world will be represented by a notable contingent, including Elon Musk (Tesla and SpaceX), Jeff Bezos (Amazon), Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook), and, interestingly, TikTok CEO Shou Chew. Chew's invitation and prominent seating arrangement alongside other VIPs has raised eyebrows.
On the international stage, while Chinese President Xi Jinping will not be present, Vice President Han Zheng will attend in his stead. Other world leaders expected to attend include Argentina's President Javier Milei and Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. El Salvador's President Nayib Bukele also received an invitation. While Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán was invited, he is reportedly not planning to attend.

The attendance of several international leaders marks a departure from typical inauguration protocol, as historical records suggest this level of foreign representation is unprecedented. The inauguration will undoubtedly be a closely watched event, reflecting the complex political landscape both domestically and internationally.
