Prince Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy is prepared to step aside and allow his daughter, Princess Vittoria, to take the helm of the family. The Italian prince shared with Fox News Digital his intention to forgo his claim to the throne in favor of a more contemporary approach to monarchy.

Princess Vittoria, 19, is currently pursuing studies in political science and art history in the U.K. She is also a fashion model with a substantial Instagram following. The prince expressed his admiration for the younger generation's ability to navigate a rapidly changing world. He stated his desire not to impede his daughter's opportunities and expressed his willingness to step back when she's ready to lead the royal family in Italy. Vittoria's aspirations include opening an art gallery and working with emerging artists.

The House of Savoy, with its roots in the 11th century, reigned over the Kingdom of Italy from 1861 to 1946. Following the family's ill-fated support of Benito Mussolini and the subsequent vote to abolish the monarchy, male heirs were exiled from Italy until 2002. Two years ago, Filiberto's father, Prince Vittorio Emanuele, amended the Salic Law, paving the way for Vittoria to potentially lead the family. Filiberto also has a younger daughter, Princess Luisa, 17, who attends boarding school at Oxford.

While the Savoy family no longer holds political power, Vittoria will eventually oversee their charitable endeavors, which reportedly disbursed $1 million last year. Plans are underway to construct a music school in the flood-ravaged Emilia-Romagna region. Filiberto emphasized Vittoria's commitment to her studies and her desire to learn about her family's history.
